Cross Making Workshop
Many people are looking for new ways to express their faith other than their day-to-day prayers. They long for a deeper connection with God in their lives. Making crosses, according to Ellen Morris Prewitt, "Locates you in a place of prayer and keeps you there. As you work on the crosses, God is right there beside you, making suggestions, leading you into new understandings, showing you things that you didn't know you knew."
You may experience cross making at a workshop led by Carol Heisel on March 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00. The workshop is in the Narthex and Chapel. The purpose of the workshop is to deepen your experience of Lent and Easter by making a cross out of found materials. No art experience or talent is needed to participate in the workshop.
The workshop is designed to be a time of prayer, meditation, and inspiration as well as a way to express your own feelings about your Lenten journey. If you are interested in participating in the workshop you may click HERE to register on line, sign up with Carol at church or reserve a space by calling her at 541-535-5229. No fee is being charged, but donations at the workshop will be gladly accepted for the Kenyan Volunteer in Mission Team that Carol will be a part of this summer.
Below is a list of suggested materials to bring to the workshop. Please do not purchase anything. Part of the purpose of the workshop is to use things you already have or find outdoors. Don't attempt to bring all of the materials because we will be sharing our treasures.
